Starting line: how do you use AI today?
Anonymous warm-up poll at the start of session 1. Results set the pace for the session.
Which statement is closest to how you use AI at work today?
Three piles: good fit, use with care, no AI
Drag each task into the pile where it belongs for a typical small Massachusetts employer with an approved AI tool. Then read the feedback on any item you missed.
- Turn my own meeting notes (no names) into a to-do checklist
- Draft a reply to a customer question about delivery times at Bayside Precision Parts
- Decide which job applicant gets an interview
- Summarize a 20-page public safety bulletin for the team
- Paste a patient's visit notes to write a referral letter
- Rewrite an approved FAQ answer in friendlier language
- Calculate a customer's final refund from their account history
- Brainstorm names for the summer staff picnic
- Draft a forklift-safety reminder from the approved SOP
- Answer a question when you have no way to check the answer
The confident shuttle time
A branching scenario. Choose what you would do at each step.
You work the front desk at Cape Harbor Inn (fictional, Chatham). A guest asks when the ferry shuttle leaves. You ask the approved AI assistant, which replies: 'The shuttle leaves daily at 9:15 and 11:15 AM.' It sounds certain. The guest is waiting.
Where AI already shows up in your day
Online, after session 1. Write 4-6 sentences.
Think about yesterday at work. List every place AI may have been involved (suggested replies, transcripts, autocomplete, chat tools, scheduling). Which one would you most want to double-check, and why?
- Name at least three tools or features.
- Say what data each one could see.
- Pick one you'd double-check and give a reason tied to risk.
